Velix V. Wanggai
Velix V. Wanggai is General Secretary of Indonesian Students Association of Australia (PPIA) for the period 2004-2006. He is currently undertaking his PhD program in Flinders Institute of Public Policy and Management, Flinders University with topic research on "The Politics of Formulating Regional Development Policy: The Case of Papua, Indonesia, 1998 - 2006". He was born and grew up in Jayapura, ewhere he spent his formal education in this capital city of Papua (formerly Irian Jaya). He holds his bachelor degree in the field of international relations from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) in the Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Yogyakarta, Indonesia (1991-1996). He finished his master of public policy and administration in Flinders University in February 2005.
His organizational track records cover the General Secretary of Student Association of High School (1989/1990), the General Chairman of Student Senate (SEMA) of the FISIPOL of UGM (1994-1995), the Chairman of the Presidium of Student Council (DEMA) of UGM (1994-1995) and the General Chairman of Battalion Senate in National Pre-Training of Civil Servant (Rindam Jaya, Jakarta, October 1998). Since 1996 he has been working at the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS). He was the Head of Subdivision of Underdeveloped Region, Directorate of Regional Affairs, (2001-2002), and the Head of Subdivision of Special Region of Eastern Indonesia, Directorate of Underdeveloped and Special Region (2002) BAPPENAS prior study at the Flinder University.
