Hendra Yusran Siry
Hendra Yusran Siry is a PhD candidate in the Resources Management in Asia Pacific (RMAP) Program, Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies (RSPAS), the Australian National University (ANU). Prior to commence his PhD, Hendra was Head of Program Development, Planning Division, Agency for Marine and Fisheries Research (AMFR), Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. Hendra has positive record on his long services as government officer both in Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry Marine Affairs and Fisheries. He has been involved in the issues of marine and coastal zone management, and decentralization natural resources management. His PhD research project is focus on current process of decentralization coastal zone management in Indonesia.
Hendra holds his master degree from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand in 2001 having won postgraduate scholarships from the Government of Canada (CIDA/CUC) and the Ford Foundation Jakarta, and bachelor degree (Sarjana Perikanan) from University of Riau (2001). Hendra has been awarded number of distinguished award and fellowship, including Asian Scholarship Foundation (ASF) Fellowship (2002-2003), Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) Fellow (2003), The Ford Foundations Individual Grant (2000- 2002), and United Nations University - Asian Institute of Technology Fellowship (1999).
In 1995, Hendra was awarded as Talented Student (Mahasiswa Berprestasi), and was invited to the Presidential Palace for celebrating the 50 years Indonesia anniversary. Hendra has served his social activities into various position and organizational activities, such as the President of the AIT Student Union (2001), General Secretary of the AIT Student Union (2000 -2001), and Indonesian Marine Science and Technology Association (HIMTEKINDO) (1993 - 1996). Currently, he is Head of Education and Strategic Studies Division of PPIA, and Editor for Teroka Cendekia, semi-popular journal published by PPIA.
